OVERVIEW
ForwardThinking Post 1 will be an amenity for arts and cultural programming in West Baltimore. Through regular events like music performance, photo walks, cultural tours, and more, the space will be a catalyst for the community.
STEWARDSHIP
Walkable, safe communities are also typically clean communities and thus with the adoption of the space for ForwardThinking Post 1, we’d like to organize regular community cleanups on surrounding vacant lots within the district.
The current target is for every other Saturday and a couple chosen weekdays throughout the month to organize a few people. The more trash picked up, the less trash blowing into yards and polluting the environment.
MOVIES AT THE POST
Movies at the Post could also be a regular event. In Midtown-Edmonson, there’s the Community Walk-in Theatre, a collaboration between Morgan State and GroundRoot, Inc, but the space has been inactive for an indeterminate amount of time.
Guests at The Post could get snacks from the local deli, or even one of the few local restaurants. If demand is there, maybe local food trucks could serve the area.
FORWARDTHINKING LIVE
ForwardThinking Live is a monthly music series that should begin during the summer season into early fall.
The event would comprise of 4 artists with live music supported throuvgh collaboration between the artists themselves, ForwardThinking, and Studio10, a studio space in Hampden. These events would bring regular programming to the space, building foot traffic and supporting the community.
